I had to go to Pensacola for work this afternoon and before heading to our appointment Haire and I went to McGuire’s Irish Pub. We arrived a little after noon and the parking lot was full. The place had a pretty cool vibe and upon entering I immediately noticed all of the one dollar bills hanging from the ceiling. Apparently it is a tradition started when the pub opened.
We were led to our table in the back of the pub and given two menus. I knew I wanted a bowl of lamb stew while Mike ordered their famous fried chicken. We also each got a bowl of their Senate bean soup which was priced right at $0.18 a cup.
The Senate bean soup was very good and when my lamb stew arrived I was not disappointed. It was a huge portion of lamb shank, potatoes and carrots topped with a puff pastry shamrock. It was seasoned perfectly and hit the spot. I have not had such a good lamb stew since I was in Dublin while attending LSE.
Overall I really enjoyed McGuire’s and am happy we had lunch there. Next time I am in Pensacola Iwill have to go back to try something else off their huge menu.
