Photastic Fare at Fareast Cuisine

To go pho

I love pho.  The mix of spiciness with the noodles and bite from the cilantro is something I really enjoy.  I have been looking for a place in Tallahassee that offers up this Vietnamese staple and discovered Fareast Cuisine.  The restaurant is located in the same shopping plaza on Thomasville Road as TJ-Maxx.  Navigating Tallahassee’s own spaghetti junction I arrived just before noon.  I looked over their menu and ordered a bowl of pho tai.  When I told the girl I wanted it to go she gave me an odd look and then punched in my order.  The total costs before tax was a reasonable $6.99.

I sat down in a booth at the front and surveyed the restaurant.  There were a few occupies tables in the brightly dining room.  It was in need of an update and appeared to have last been renovated in the late 1980s.  Soft jazz played from somewhere as servers scurried from table to table.  After waiting for a couple of minutes I was presented a plastic bag and was on my way back to the office.

When I got back to my desk I opened up the bag and was met with deconstructed pho.  The broth was in a large container while the noodles, strips of thinly cut beef and vegetables were all in their own individual satchels.  After sipping some of the broth I decided to assemble it in the container they provided.  It was not the prettiest looking pho but it tasted good.  The beef was rare and I picked through the both looking for it.  The chilies were spicy and I started to have beads of sweat as I ate.  I was careful not to slurp the noodles and managed to escape lunch without any damage to my shirt or khakis.  Overall I really enjoyed Fareast Cuisine’s pho.  Next time I plan to eat there to avoid assembling my own and sample some of their other offerings from their large menu.
