TF’s Wok Rocks

My search for a Chinese restaurant convenient to my office took me to TF’s Wok.  It is located off the rotary on Shannon Lakes Drive in the same plaza as Four Oaks Community Church and Papa Johns.  I walked in and was greeted by the girl behind the counter.  To the left of the counter the restaurant was dark and it looked like they were using it as a storage area.

I looked over the menu and was delighted to see they offered chicken in black bean sauce as a lunch special.  I placed my order and within minutes was out the door and on my way.

The chicken in black bean sauce was piping hot when I took the lid off its aluminum plate.  Thin slices of chicken were covered in a light sauce with large slices of carrots, broccoli, onions, water chesnuts, snow peas, mushrooms and black beans.  The food was fresh, well prepared and satisfied my craving for Chinese food.

The fried rice that accompanied the main dish was yellow rice mixed with peas and a few carrots.  It was okay.

The egg roll that came with the lunch special was contained in its own wax paper sleeve.  It was warm, crunchy and contained a filling of mostly Chinese cabbage.  It was not the most interesting egg roll but it was prepared with care and served as an average Chinese take-out egg roll should be, hot and crispy.

Overall, TF’s Wok was good.  The food was well prepared and above average when compared to what most of the Chinese joints in the area dish up.  The price for a lunch special was also very reasonable (a little over $6 with tax).  When that is added to the fact it is a 2 minute drive from my office, I think I found my go-to Chinese restaurant for Northeast Tallahassee.
