When Carlos’ Cuban Café closed I was sad. When I read the owners opened a new restaurant near Esposito’s Garden Center on Capital Circle NE visions of their Masitas (fried pork chunks) danced in my head. For more on the Cuban Grill check out the full review on Tallahassee.com.

Drats. I was planning on going there for dinner tonight… now another mention in the paper will add more people to the line. Maybe the mention of service issues will keep some away. The Ropa Vieja looks delish!
I think the change from table service to more of a sub shop/fast food style threw them. It takes time to make the sandwiches and platters, especially when the line is snaking into the restaurant! Once they sort out this issue, they’ll be good to go. I hope they succeed!
They were pretty slow during dinner, so no problem with the service. Carlos was dancing a bit when we walked in, but later changed the festive fast music so no one would feel rushed eating. :o) The Ropa Vieja was great. And they had some print outs of menus now that I snagged to have my next meal planned.
Great! Glad you like tge Ropa Vieja, and good to hear they got some additional menus printed up.
You know I can’t read anything in the Democrat because of my current occupation. Maybe I’ll just find a copy of the article lining someones bird cage! I’m kidding. Great review, as always!
Ha! Thanks for the kind words!
Will have to give this place a try. Ropa vieja is my favorite and the standard by which I judge all Cuban restaurants (that or the picadillo!).
Let me know what you think of it after you try it! On another note, my great-grandmother’s last name was Geraci. Not a very common name where I live!
