El Potrillo

Cruising on I-10 my gas gauge began to trend towards empty. At about the same time my stomach began to grumble, and I decided to fuel up both vehicle and driver in Quincy, Florida.  After topping off the gas tank I made my way towards El Potrillo Mexican Restaurant located at 1951 W. Jefferson Street in a weather beaten white and beige building.  A small tower displayed the restaurant’s name in green, red and white.

I walked through a side door that I assumed connected to the restaurant and was greeted by a confused clerk who was stocking a cooler with sodas.  I had mistakenly entered a small convenience store, and he instructed me to walk around to the front of the building.  Eventually I made it through the correct door and entered El Potrillo towards the end of the lunch rush.  I took a seat at a long table near the rear of the restaurant.  Faded gold walls painted to look like stone archways lined the left side of the space.  Black and white floor tiles served as a backdrop for well worn booths, tables, and chairs.  For more on El Potrillo read the full review on Tallahassee.com.
