On S. Adams Street in a peaked orange and green building with a metal roof sits Olean’s. The restaurant has been serving up home cooked meals since 1996, and this past week I finally paid this local landmark a visit with my friend Drew.
We arrived a few minutes before noon, and a line reached from the cash register almost to the door. Behind a glass guard a man swapped breakfast items for lunch on the steam table. Pots of green beans, blackeye peas, cabbage, yellow rice and corn were set out. The proprietress, Miss Olean, stuck her head through the kitchen window accompanied by a metal serving dish of fried chicken. She declared it was the best in the city, and the employees behind the counter broke out into song singing the poultry’s praises. For more on Olean’s read the full review on Tallahassee.com.

Oleans’s is good, granted. Have you tried the fried chicken at Nick’s on S. Munroe St.??
