John Knox Road is home to Scratch Kitchen and Pub, one of the city’s newest restaurants. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve watched as space formerly known as Ray’s Steel City Saloon came back to life following a brief period of dormancy. Following one failed attempt to eat lunch (Scratch is not open for this meal on Saturdays) my friend and I paid them a visit this past week.
Standing outside the car the outside of the restaurant appears largely unchanged. The only hint a new eatery is up and running was the large new sign next to the street. Upon opening the front door we were greeted by the hostess who seated us in a booth. The inside of the restaurant is brighter thanks to a new coat of paint, and it felt more open with the removal of various knick-knacks that adorned the long black beams that run throughout the dining room.
