After the kitchen fire that shuttered the Front Porch, a spot that never got under full sail, speculation ran rampant about what would fill the void of the large restaurant at 1215 Thomasville Road. As plans were unveiled for Table 23, a Southern porch, table and bar, anticipation built for Tallahassee’s newest locally focused eatery.
On a humid evening before pottery class, Kirsten, Marlene (my mother-in-law) and I stopped in for a meal. Table 23 has made the space its own while keeping some of the nice aspects of the prior tenant. We took a seat outside and were attended to by a friendly and knowledgeable waiter who made our visit a pleasure.
Table 23 has a varied selection of starters and small plates, including boiled peanuts, deviled eggs and smoked mullet croquetas. We selected the pecan crusted okra as our starter, and a mini-fryer basket of lightly breaded bright green pods arrived at the table, accompanied with a side of roasted jalapeño green goddess. The crisp fried okra and the zingy dressing paired well with one another and were a great way to start our meal. For more on Table 23 read the full review on Tallahasee.com.
