Tallahassee is now home to Tazikis Mediterranean Cafe, a fast casual restaurant dishing gyros and other Greek fare. With the kiddos loaded up we trekked over to the restaurant, located at 216 S. Magnolia Drive, for dinner.
Looking over the menu appetizers, various grilled meat platters, and take home dinners for four were offered. Mason and Julia have been craving shrimp and selected the grilled shrimp plate. I opted for the grilled lamb platter while Kirsten ordered the grilled chicken gyro and a side of roasted potatoes.
After placing our order we were giving a number and assured our meals would be our shortly. Taziki’s kept there word, and despite doing brisk business on the night of our visit, all our food was out quickly and at the right temperature.
The shrimp and lamb plates were both served with a Greek salad and side of basmati rice. The kids dove into the plump shrimp seasoned with lemon juice and butter and gave them a thumbs up. Normally it can be a struggle to get them to eat sides, but both the rice and salad quickly disappeared.
My lamb was nicely chargrilled and served medium with a side of skordalia sauce. Juicy and tender the lamb hit the spot. The rice was a good accompaniment and the salad was fresh.
Kirsten’s grilled chicken gyro was full of white meat chicken, fresh vegetables, and a drizzle of taziki sauce. The pita was warm and fresh, while the extra side of roasted red potatoes were nicely seasoned and cooked.
